Join Us as We Celebrate Seventy Years of Impact and Excellence

Join Bar-Ilan University friends and supporters from around the world for an extraordinary gathering in Israel, celebrating 70 years of innovation, impact, and academic excellence.  

  • Join together and build connections with like-minded supporters of Bar-Ilan and those just getting to know the university. 
  • Opportunities for intimate conversations and quiet moments with Bar-Ilan’s leadership, most innovative researchers and students . 
  • Share a unique Shabbat experience filled with like-minded community, festive meals, rich learning, and ritual (for those who wish). 
      • Deborah Lipstadt, the former US Department of State Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism and Bar-Ilan University Honorary Doctorate recipient, joins us to talk about antisemitism across the globe and will be honored at the Gewertz Award ceremony.  
      • Experience the Inclusive Archaeology Program at Tel Qana a multidisciplinary Bar-Ilan University initiative that brings together archaeology, community engagement, technological innovation, and therapeutic social work.  
      • Walking Tour of Neve Zedek, the first Jewish neighborhood to be built outside the old city of the ancient port of Jaffa. 

The festivities continue on the Bar-Ilan University campuses in Ramat Gan and Tsfat as well as other highlights in the Galilee Sunday, May 10 through Wednesday, May 13, with a dynamic program that showcases the very best of BIU.   

Sunday, May 10

PROGRESS: A DAY IN THE NORTH 

  • Briefing from the Border: Lebanon, Syria, and Israel’s Northern Front in a Time of Escalation . 
  • A visit to Safed to see first-hand how BIU’s Azrieli Faculty of Medicine and the Russell Berrie Galilee Diabetes SPHERE Program are changing healthcare in the North, as well as a glimpse into the future plans for the region and BIU’s critical roles.

Monday, May 11

PIONEERS: CAMPUS AND BEYOND 

  • Behind the scenes of the to be built Health Tech Valley and see first-hand how this ground-breaking ecosystem will move ideas from idea to discovery to real-world impact. A visit with Professor SharonRothshein and her cutting-edge cancer research work.
  • Engage with Bar-Ilan students from diverse backgrounds at  The Menomadin Center for Jewish and Democratic Law as they explore what it means for Israel to be both Jewish and democratic, and the real policy questions that come with that tension, including ways to bridge it.  
  • President Arie Zaban unveils his vision for aflagship home for the engineering and innovation ecosystem designed to accelerate ideas into real-world impact. This project will bring together students, faculty, and industry partners in one connected hub for teaching, research, and hands-on collaboration, with the labs, maker spaces, and shared resources needed to tackle today’s toughest challenges.  

Tuesday, May 12

PROGRESS: CELEBRATING OUR 70th YEAR    

  • Leveraging Growth for Greater Impact: The President’s Address. This year, we were named Israel’s second-largest university and its fastest-growing. The President’s vision is to leverage that growth to deepen our impact by strengthening academic excellence, expanding opportunity for students from every background, and advancing research and partnerships that address real needs. With smart, values-driven investment, we are building a university that is more innovative, more connected to society, and prepared for what comes next.
  • A special gala evening including an address by Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel. Together, we will celebrate remarkable leadership and lasting contributions to our community and the world, honoring individuals whose work has advanced education, strengthened society, and created meaningful impact. This is a signature moment of the Global Gathering, bringing donors and friends together for an inspiring night of celebration, recognition, connection, and shared purpose. As a part of the evening’s festivities, honorary doctorate degrees will be granted to:
    • Baroness Ariane de Rothschild, CEO Edmond de Rothschild Family Philanthropy
    • Rabbi Berel Lazar, Chief Rabbi of Russia
    • Steve Witkoff, United States Special Envoy to the Middle East
    • Sandor Frankel, Trustee, The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust
    • And others to be announced

Wednesday, May 13

  • A behind the scenes look into the evolution of Ariel Sharon Park, it’s connections to BIU and the state of Israel . 

Each day will deliver:

  • Cutting-edge research presentations and student spotlights  
  • Engaging conversations with Israeli leaders and visionaries  
  • Opportunities for personalized experiences to meet your interests  
  • Immersive experiences in Israeli culture and cuisine  
  • Donor recognition   
  • Fun, festivities, and community connection  

Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of participants.  

A calendar for Bar-Ilan University from May 8-13, 2026, detailing various events and activities for each day, including lectures, discussions, and social gatherings.

This schedule is a representation of the experience. Program and schedule are subject to change.

Accommodations: A special rate has been arranged at the David InterContinental Tel Aviv by BIU’s travel partner, Ophir Tours. A link to book the hotel will be sent upon registration.
 
Transportation: Transportation from the hotel to all activities during the Global Gathering will be provided. Transportation to Ben-Gurion Airport will be provided on the evening of May 13 – in time for the evening/night flights to the U.S. Other ground transportation to/from Ben-Gurion Airport is the responsibility of each participant, as are flights to/from Israel.
